William Thomas’ journey to entrepreneurship started three years ago at a yard sale. William’s mother was selling cupcakes when he asked if he could put a few of his paintings out on the table. To his surprise, they sold. Encouraged by the success, William tried again at a school art sale, and then at an arts and crafts fair in Maumelle. Each time, his paintings found homes. Fast forward to today: he now runs his own business, William’s Colorful Creations, where he sells his artwork and shares available paintings on Facebook.
William first discovered his love for painting while spending time with his grandmother. They would paint together using acrylics, experimenting with techniques like making fireworks with paper tubes or using painted string to create flower shapes. He often spends his weekends painting and continues building his skills with landscape art.

Selling his artwork has always been a proud accomplishment for William. He uses his earnings to buy new art supplies and help pay for his school tuition. William’s goals for the future are to have a job, live in his own apartment, and attend ACCESS Life, a program that helps adults build skills for independent living and employment.
When William isn’t painting, you can find him with a fishing rod in his hand hoping to catch a fish at Lake Maumelle, which he describes as “calming and quiet.” He also is a huge animal lover and likes to spend time with his two cats and yellow lab.

We are happy to have William as an artist at The Blue Umbrella, where he can use his creativity to earn an income and experience independence.
